In a smoke-filled desert, Tiffany Day and glaive walk one after the other, set against a wall of sound built from dense, near-overblown digicore beats. This is the scene from the music video for "MEANT TO BE," directed by John Kim—Day's latest single release following her completely sold-out European tour.

The track continues the "bass-heavy melancholy" vibe found in Day's recent work, but adds a layer of brightness to the arrangement—beneath the urgent electronic rhythms lies a rare sense of optimism. This contrast, in a way, mirrors her musical shift over the past couple of years.

Day originally got her start in bedroom-pop, but her studio album "HALO," released this past April, marked a full pivot into hyperpop, trading quiet indie shows for stages lit up with confetti and flashing disco lights. In an April interview with The FADER, she talked about the hesitation behind this transition: "I always wanted to find my own niche, and electronic music kept calling to me, but I was scared of how fans and artists in that scene would see me and my work."

Now she hasn't just stepped into that scene—she's touring it with glaive. The two are currently on a North American tour together and will perform tomorrow at Wonder Ballroom in Portland, Oregon. To coincide with the new single's release, Day also shared behind-the-scenes photos from the music video shoot.
