Ivory to Black: Traditional Weatherwear Shows One Denim Jacket Can Have Four Different Moods

British label Traditional Weatherwear builds its early autumn collection around UNIONWEAR, using shades instead of new silhouettes to show just how many moods a single piece of denim can carry.

The same denim jacket, and just by changing the color, it takes on a whole new personality — that's probably the most straightforward demo in Traditional Weatherwear's latest early autumn collection. Instead of piling on new silhouettes, the brand puts its focus on the color range of denim: moving from ivory white, bleached light blue, deep indigo, all the way to black, letting color itself become the backbone of the styling logic.

The collection takes its cue from the brand's signature UNIONWEAR, streamlining workwear and military elements. For a lighter visual, the Work Jacket 201D denim work jacket comes in ivory melange and bleached light blue, with a relaxed fit and short boxy silhouette, paired with the Union Slacks 303D denim cocoon pants for extra volume. The short-top, wide-bottom ratio is the key here — even in a full denim-on-denim look, it never feels heavy.

The Malton BT Short Denim takes a different route: dropped shoulders, a loose cut, and a wash treatment that softens the fading at the seams, with gold buttons adding a finishing detail. Paired with the Union Slacks 301D straight-leg denim, it's the kind of no-brainer combo you can just throw on for everyday wear.

As the weather cools down, the colors go deeper too. The Work Jacket 002D switches to deep indigo denim and adds a corduroy collar, giving the work jacket the extra material weight fall and winter call for. The Work Jacket 001D closes things out in black denim, keeping the metal work buttons and riveted pockets, paired with black cocoon pants or wide straight-leg trousers — completing the full journey from crisp summer light blue to grounded early autumn black.

For Taiwan's kind of transitional weather — muggy during the day, cool by evening — this style of denim jacket is actually pretty practical: layer a tank top or T-shirt underneath during the day, carry the jacket in hand, then put it on once you step into air conditioning or when temperatures drop at night. No need to overhaul your whole outfit plan.
