GTA VI Trailer Drops on Netflix First — Rockstar Skips YouTube Premiere This Time

A game trailer choosing to debut on Netflix first, with YouTube following six hours later — this sequencing says more than the trailer itself. Rockstar Games has announced a partnership with Netflix to premiere "Grand Theft Auto VI: In-Depth Look" on Thursday, August 27, 2026, going live on Netflix at 3 PM ET, before hitting Rockstar's official YouTube channel and website at 9 PM.

For a title that's been over 13 years in the making and long anticipated by fans, handing the premiere to a streaming platform known for series and films — rather than YouTube, the go-to for gamers — reveals just how far Rockstar wants to push GTA VI's reach.

The content itself builds on previously released information: the story is set in Leonida, a fictional state home to Vice City, with the single-player campaign centered on dual protagonists Jason and Lucia — a pair who thought they could pull off one big score and walk away, only to have things go wrong and drag them into a conspiracy far more dangerous than they imagined.

Pre-orders have been open since June. Both the digital and physical standard editions are priced at $79.99, while the $99.99 Ultimate Edition adds a batch of exclusive in-game vehicles, weapons, apparel, and bonus content scattered throughout the game.

"Grand Theft Auto VI: In-Depth Look" premieres August 27 on Netflix, YouTube, and the official Rockstar Games website. The game's official release date has yet to be announced.
