Hellstar Rips Off the Cage on adidas' Megaride, Adds a Zipper Instead

Hellstar teams up with adidas to overhaul the 2000s bounce-cushioning silhouette Megaride S2, ditching the signature TPU cage for a zipper system and flame graphics. The Cloud White/Core Black colorway is dropping soon.

This time Hellstar isn't just playing with colorways for adidas — they're going in with a scalpel.

The Megaride S2 was originally a product of adidas' mid-2000s bounce-cushioning boom, built on an exposed spring structure and a futuristic cutout cage that gave the whole shoe its tech-forward look. This time, Hellstar has stripped away that TPU cage entirely, replacing it with a smooth synthetic leather overlay. A functional zipper has been added down the center of the shoe, tucking the once-exposed lacing system underneath. This isn't the usual collab logic of slapping on new colors — it's a full rewrite of the silhouette's structural language.

The colorway is anchored in Cloud White, with Hellstar's signature flame motif spreading across the side panels and running the length of the shoe. The tongue and heel keep a low-key dual-branding treatment, while the collar and lining are finished in deep black, framing the flame graphic against a high-contrast black-and-white backdrop. The midsole retains the Megaride's original tunnel-style pillar construction, extending back to the heel, paired with a segmented rubber outsole.

This marks Hellstar's second overhaul of an adidas classic this year, following its earlier work on the Superstar. Where that project was more of a surface-level makeover, the Megaride S2 sees Hellstar tackling a far more obscure and technically demanding tech-runner silhouette — forcing Y2K functional design language into its dark streetwear aesthetic.
