Hermès HERMÈSTORIES in Hong Kong: choosing the free play or exhibition
At Freespace until November 8, HERMÈSTORIES offers a play with an exhibition or exhibition-only visits. Admission is free for ages seven and up; there is no play on October 26 or November 2.
Hermès HERMÈSTORIES runs at Freespace in Hong Kong’s West Kowloon Cultural District from October 24 to November 8, 2026. It takes the house’s history and objects onto a stage, alongside an exhibition that can be visited independently. The first decision for a visitor is whether to sit down for the performance or plan a shorter exhibition visit.
Entry is free and advance booking is recommended; the event is for ages seven and up. Performance and exhibition slots differ, as do weekday and weekend schedules. An exhibition-only visit need not include the running time of the play. These are planning details during the event’s run, not an account of a visit or a guarantee of availability.
At a glance
Freespace, West Kowloon Cultural District, Hong Kong; October 24–November 8. Free entry for ages seven and up.
The play lasts about 50 minutes; allow around 30 minutes for the exhibition. Combined and exhibition-only bookings are separate options.
No play takes place on October 26 or November 2. The overall date range does not mean there is a performance every day.
Choose a narrative performance or a closer look at objects
Written by Pauline Bayle and directed by Joe Hufton, the project makes the house’s history and objects part of a theatrical narrative. Choose the play if you want to follow the story at the performance’s pace; exhibition-only visits offer another booking option without committing to a whole performance.
The supplied photographs show a horse-and-carriage line image, performers alongside leather goods, and stacked display cabinets containing scarves, clothing and orange boxes. They offer clues to materials and display, but do not establish that every object can be handled, tried or purchased. Follow the instructions at the venue.

Distinguish weekdays, weekends and days without the play
The combined play-and-exhibition option has weekday performances at 4.30pm and 7.30pm, and weekend performances at 2.30pm and 5.30pm, all in Hong Kong local time. There is no play on October 26 or November 2. If those are your travel dates, check exhibition-only availability instead of assuming a performance will start.
Exhibition-only sessions run every 30 minutes, with weekday hours of 11am–7pm and weekend hours of 10.30am–5pm. The approximate 50-minute play and recommended 30-minute exhibition visit are starting points for planning transport, not guaranteed exit times. Allow for admission and walking, and check the actual booking arrangements.

Free admission still requires checking the booking
Advance booking is recommended to secure a place. If every slot is booked, walk-ins may be admitted in arrival order subject to capacity; this does not guarantee admission without a reservation. Check the age requirement and selected experience before confirming the date and time for everyone travelling together.
Keep the reservation details alongside your travel plan to avoid confusing exhibition opening hours with the start of a performance. An exhibition place does not automatically include the play. Before leaving, check the official page for current sessions and availability rather than inferring queues or crowd levels from promotional photographs.
