SANGACIO takes “にゅ” to the track with NEW’Z Racing Club and Maaya Orido

SANGACIO takes “にゅ” to the track with NEW’Z Racing Club and Maaya Orido

The “にゅ” lettering familiar from SANGACIO sneakers is appearing on a formula racing car. The Japanese brand has announced that NEW’Z RACING CLUB will enter the 2026 KYOJO CUP Round 5 at Fuji Speedway on October 31–November 1, with Maaya Orido driving. Purple and yellow carry the brand identity into the racing artwork and driver’s clothing.

This is an announcement of a racing entry, not a collaborative sneaker release or an achieved race result. Team, driver, dates and venue are listed, but no limited-edition shoe or trackside merchandise lineup is announced. The campaign poster should therefore be read as a racing visual rather than a new-product teaser.

A sneaker identity moves onto car and clothing

SANGACIO traces its origins to its founder’s experience studying shoemaking and design in Italy. The idea of Japanese sneakers seen from abroad led to handmade shoes incorporating the Japanese “にゅ” lettering. That typographic identity gives the footwear a recognisable graphic element beyond English-language branding.

The entry visual continues the purple-and-yellow palette, with “にゅ” on the car’s side and rear wing and NEW’Z Racing Club lettering on the driver’s suit. The visual vocabulary moves from a shoe upper onto a vehicle and clothing. These details are visible in the announcement imagery; the poster is not documentary photography of the forthcoming race already taking place.

A Culture Club project, with Orido at the wheel

NEW’Z RACING CLUB forms part of NEW’Z CULTURE CLUB, an initiative led by SANGACIO’s founder and designer Maeda. Music, racing, art and fashion are vehicles for presenting the brand’s background, with the racing team a concrete part of that programme. The announcement is about participation in a cultural setting rather than simply another branded product.

Orido is explicitly identified as the driver. Her portrait in the purple-and-yellow suit shows the team identity on an actual garment, but a portrait does not establish a competitive result. The announcement gives no lap time or placing for this entry; it cannot be described in advance as a win, a leading performance or a completed race.

An all-female series, with visitor details still to follow

KYOJO CUP is a racing series restricted to female drivers. The announcement describes common conditions across engines, cars and tyres as a basis for competition in driving skill. Round 5 takes place at Fuji Speedway, 694 Nakahinata, Oyama, Sunto District, Shizuoka, on Saturday October 31 and Sunday November 1.

Those dates and the venue are a starting point for planning, not confirmation of admission. SANGACIO says racing updates and the content and participation methods for visitor activities will be announced through its official social channels. Ticket prices, detailed brand-event times and merchandise sales are not supplied here and should be checked separately with the organiser and brand.
