MIZUNO × MARGARET HOWELL’s insulated coat arrives October 28 with a stand collar and drawcords
The TECHFILL BREATH THERMO coat is listed at ¥79,200 in Japan in black and khaki. Moisture-generated warmth in its filling is not a waterproof shell or a guaranteed temperature rating.
MIZUNO and MARGARET HOWELL continue their collaboration by placing sports-derived functions inside a restrained mid-length coat. The TECHFILL BREATH THERMO COAT combines nylon ripstop with insulation in black or khaki, at a Japanese listed price of ¥79,200. It launches through designated channels on October 28.
The focus extends beyond two names on a label: insulation, an adjustable silhouette and everyday details work together. Photographs show a body without dense large-grid quilting, with the front organised by a stand collar, hood, placket and lower pockets. That is a visible appearance, not a cold-weather or rain wear test by ÉTAT HER.
A roomy mid-length shape uses drawcords and a high collar
The nylon ripstop exterior has a dry visual character, with Taslan processing producing a more natural-looking surface. The relaxed mid-length silhouette can be adjusted by a hem drawcord rather than depending entirely on a belt. Black and khaki create different shadows around the hood and placket; other colours have not been verified here.
Model wearing the khaki insulated coat fastened at the neck
The stand collar fastens up to the chin and the hood also has drawcords, features the brand uses to reduce wind entering through openings. That is different from confirming a specific windproof or rainproof test for the whole garment. It should not become an all-weather waterproof or extreme-conditions equipment claim. The adjustment system still needs checking through the product instructions and fitting.

Thin layers of TECHFILL BREATH THERMO retain air
MIZUNO describes the TECHFILL BREATH THERMO filling as very thin sheets layered to hold more air, with moisture-absorption heat generation and insulation. The function cannot be assessed from apparent thickness alone. The filling’s name also does not establish the recycled-material percentage of the complete garment.

The brand says the material can outperform down under specific test conditions, but full test conditions are not presented here. That does not justify saying it is warmer than every down filling in every environment. A filling designed to retain warmth more readily when damp does not establish a waterproof outer fabric, and no verified minimum-temperature rating is available to supply a sub-zero number.
Warm-lined pockets and reflective tape, with garment care kept distinct
Brushed material lines the hand-warmer pockets, while reflective tape appears on the back as both a functional and visual detail. A reflective element is not a verified high-visibility safety certification, nor a guarantee of visibility at a particular distance in every night setting. The coat should also be tried with the intended layers; a relaxed photograph does not prove one size fits everyone.
Sales begin October 28 at participating MARGARET HOWELL direct stores, mix.tokyo’s official shop and MIZUNO’s official online shop, with some physical stores excluded. The filling is described as washable, relatively quick drying and able to retain loft, but the finished garment’s care label governs its treatment. Arbitrary wash cycles or high-temperature tumble drying are not established. A Japanese release date is also not confirmed simultaneous Taiwanese availability or stock at every channel.
Questions and answers
When and where is it sold?
From October 28 at participating MARGARET HOWELL direct stores, mix.tokyo’s official online shop and MIZUNO’s official online shop. Some physical stores do not participate.
What are the price and colours?
The announcement lists ¥79,200 in Japan, in BLACK and KHAKI. Final taxes and delivery terms should be checked at checkout.
Does moisture-generated heat mean waterproofing or greater warmth than all down?
No. The filling’s heat-generation and conditional insulation descriptions are not a waterproof-shell guarantee or proof of outperforming down in every environment.
