Y’s IN REVERSE turns discharge dyeing into dots and brushstrokes, with seven Japanese pop-ups from November
Y’s brings discharge-treated wool, denim bags and brushstroke scarves to seven Japanese pop-ups from November 4. Online sales begin November 11; the gradient twill coat is exclusive to Isetan Shinjuku.
A pale pattern on a dark garment can begin by taking colour away. Y’s IN REVERSE capsule centres on discharge dyeing, using dots, brushstrokes and geometric borders across wool, denim and lightweight scarves. The edges left as dye is removed become an expressive part of each surface.
Seven Japanese locations will host successive temporary stores. Isetan Shinjuku opens the programme from November 4 to 10, while the official online store begins sales on November 11. These are different channel dates, rather than a simultaneous nationwide launch. Shinjuku also has an exclusive coat.
Wool dots leave room for uneven edges
Discharge dyeing removes dye from selected areas, unlike applying another layer of colour. Y’s has used this technique for years; this capsule brings it together as a theme rather than presenting it as an invention made in 2026. Pale marks in the images have blurred and irregular edges that stand out against their dark background.
Pale dots scattered over a black wool jacket lapel and front
On wool gabardine, the dots are spaced across the garment rather than packed into a dense all-over print. Some cross the lapel and front opening. Black-and-white photographs make the relationship between bright marks and generous proportions particularly clear: the outfit reads as dark clothing from a distance, with tonal differences emerging up close. These observations concern appearance, not tested feel, durability or washing performance.
A denim shoulder bag and scarf carry the brushwork
The denim shoulder bag combines a broad strap, tucks and a dimensional body. Brush marks follow changes in direction across the strap and bag, allowing different fragments to appear when carried. The photographs do not establish a capacity in litres or prove that a particular laptop will fit.

A scarf in cellulose lawn uses geometric borders and brushwork, leaving long bands of light and dark visible when draped behind the neck. A relaxed twill coat takes the treatment into a gradient and is specifically listed as exclusive to Isetan Shinjuku. Its presence in the capsule therefore does not mean every pop-up will stock it. Individual composition percentages, measurements and prices should be checked against the relevant product information.
