Two wildly different bands, one shared stage. Interpol and Queens Of The Stone Age have announced they'll co-headline at Mexico City's Estadio Ciudad de los Deportes on March 6, 2027 — marking the first time the two acts have shared a bill together after each independently building strong followings in the Mexican market.
QOTSA kept it simple on social media, posting "MEXICO 🇲🇽 We can't wait to see you with @interpol" with no further preamble. The Mexico City date isn't a standalone show — it's part of a three-city run that kicks off March 2 at Arena Guadalajara and wraps March 9 at Arena Monterrey, with The Black Angels opening all three stops.
General on-sale begins next Friday, September 25, at 10 a.m. local time, with an artist pre-sale for fans opening the day before, Thursday, at the same time.
This isn't either band's first rodeo with Mexico City. Interpol played the Zócalo in 2024 to a crowd of over 150,000 — the biggest show of the band's career. Queens Of The Stone Age, meanwhile, hit the Corona Capital festival stage the following year. This co-headlining run essentially connects two separate career-high Mexico moments on the same timeline.
Musically, both bands are in new-release mode. Interpol dropped their eighth studio album, "This Mirror Weighs A Ton," last month, earning a four-and-a-half-star review from NME, which called it the New York band's "most human, most personal record yet — one that's made peace with constant change." Frontman Paul Banks told NME that becoming a father of two before making this record made him especially conscious of getting it right: "I was thinking about how we felt about the album, or what it's like to become a father, but I took it seriously — I wanted to genuinely feel proud of it once it was done." He described the record as centered on "the pursuit of transcendence, the pursuit of clarity," while also carrying a heavy dose of stock-taking and honest self-reflection — hence the title.
On Queens Of The Stone Age's side, their new album "Perfecth" is set for release on October 30, with singles "Insignificant Other" and "Easy Street" already out as previews.
Mexico isn't the only thing on Interpol's calendar. In November, they'll co-headline a UK and European tour with Bloc Party, including a two-night stand at London's new British Airways ARC venue. They're also currently on a fall tour across the US and Canada, and will open for Sombr in Vancouver later this month.
