G-SHOCK turns its original square silhouette into analogue watches: GMC-2500 and GAC-2500 launch in Japan on November 7
Metal-bezel GMC-2500 and resin GAC-2500 models reinterpret the 1983 original. A three-cell display changes information by mode; Japanese tax-inclusive prices range from ¥20,900 to ¥49,500.
G-SHOCK is giving its familiar square silhouette an analogue dial. CASIO’s GMC-2500 and GAC-2500 series are scheduled to launch through Japanese G-SHOCK retailers and its official online store on November 7, at tax-inclusive prices of ¥20,900–¥49,500. Both draw on the 1983 DW-5000C, while replacing its digital-display approach with hands.
Two details help distinguish the new watches: bezel and strap materials, and the three-cell display at three o’clock. The softened square case retains a utilitarian appearance, but a shared 2500 designation does not mean every model has the same finish, colour or price.
Metal and resin bezels create different combinations
The GMC-2500 uses a metal bezel, with both metal-bracelet and resin-strap combinations in the range. Official versions include black, blue and silver dials, as well as a gold-coloured bezel paired with a resin strap. A metal bezel therefore does not automatically mean a full metal bracelet.
The GAC-2500 combines a resin bezel and strap, with black, green, white and yellow options. Across the two series there are nine models, distinguished by material combinations as well as colour. Branding, water-resistance markings and button labels visible in product photographs are part of the actual watch design.

The three-cell window does more than display the date
Multi-Mission Date occupies three separate cells at three o’clock. Depending on the selected mode, it displays the date, elapsed stopwatch minutes or setting information. Its purpose is to give a compact display several jobs, rather than show an unchanged date in every mode.
The fully automatic calendar requires the year, month and day to be set first. The small seconds hand at nine o’clock also has a sleep-and-resume function to conserve power. That concerns a particular hand’s operation; it does not mean the entire watch normally stops keeping time. Mode changes and time-setting should follow the manual for the exact model.

Japan’s November 7 release and the series price range
Japanese sales are scheduled to start on November 7 at G-SHOCK retailers and CASIO’s official online store. The ¥20,900–¥49,500 figure is the tax-inclusive range for the series, not an exact price for every watch pictured. Check the complete model number after choosing the bezel, dial and strap combination.
These watches connect the original model’s functional design with a new analogue layout; the original DW-5000C was not this analogue watch. The information here concerns Japan. It does not establish a simultaneous Taiwan release, Taiwan pricing or local allocations. Cross-border buyers should separately confirm warranty and after-sales arrangements.
